Acoma/Sky City VII

This pueblo is high on a mesa in New Mexico and one of the oldest, continually inhabited places in this country. The juxtaposition of ancient, merely old, and brand new is fascinating - and a bit disconcerting.
This farmer brings his tractor home each evening - up the winding path to the top of the mesa - so as to avoid the mischief of neighboring peoples.

Afternoon Heat II

The intense light of a hot Arizona morning finds respite in the strong, cool shadows thrown by cactus and trees. The old, hand-smoothed adobe walls show many coats of stucco, years of weathering the desert extremes. The house is inviting, flowers bloom in a clay basket - just knock on the door!
